    Quad Rear

Quad rear fins are the back two fins in a quad setup, or the rear fins in a single fin setup. The latter usually occurs on performance longboards. Quad rear fins come in sets of two fins, in contrast to quad fins, which come in sets of four fins.

A quad setup has four fins on the bottom of the board. This setup generates a lot of speed, because there is no drag caused by a middle fin. However, the lack of a middle fin decreases the control of the board. Though, in large, steep waves, a quad setup allows for a more targeted control, without decreasing the speed. During smaller surf conditions a quad setup makes it easy to create speed. In general, this setup is perfect for generating drive while making turns! For example, check out, the quad rear fins of Roam, Future fins and FCS!

Performance longboards are usually surfed with a setup of one single fin and two smaller fins: rears. Besides the shape of this type of longboard, this fin setup generates more speed. In contrast to noseriders, performance longboards are easier to control, and can be surfed in higher waves. Check out all our longboards here.
