How Does a Wetsuit Work?
Wetsuits, made from neoprene, are designed to keep your body warm in the water during surfing. The neoprene traps a layer of water between you and the material, which is then heated by your body temperature. Neoprene's insulating properties are determined by the closed air cells within it. The thicker the neoprene, the more air cells and therefore more insulation. Which thickness you need depends on the water temperature in which you're going to surf.
