    5/4mm Men Wetsuits

For the North Sea winters, you will need a wetsuit with thick neoprene. Thick neoprene has large closed air cells that warm up to your body temperature. This keeps you warm longer when water temperatures drop. Thicker wetsuits often come with a lining that keeps you extra warm. We recommend a 5 mm wetsuit at water temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees.

5 mm wetsuits must fit snugly in order for them to serve you best! As soon as the wetsuit is too big, a new layer of water will flow in. This prevents the wetsuit from heating up and you will get out of the water faster. 5 mm wetsuits will also come with taped or sealed seams, ensuring that less cold water flows into your wetsuit. To understand how your wetsuit works, check out our Wetsuit Guide where we explain all the features in detail! Prefer a more personal touch and some advice? While thicker neoprene provides more warmth, it does allow for less flexibility. As a result, you mainly see chest zips with 5 mm wetsuits, such as the ones from Rip Curl, C-Skins, Hurley and Vissla. If you prefer a 5 mm wetsuit that is easier to get into, you can take a look at those equipped with a back-zip from O’Neill and Quiksilver. Thicker neoprene wetsuits often come with a fixed cap that is attached to the wetsuit. This prevents you from losing heat through your head, and preventing water inflow through the collar. With a cap, your ears are also well protected against the cold and wind. Gloves and boots are also nice in these water temperatures. These surf accessories will prevent you from getting cold hands and feet in longer surfing sessions. Check out our range of caps, gloves and boots for that extra bit of warmth!
