Hayden Shapes Future Flex – Het Materiaal?
De Holy Grail is gemaakt van de FutureFlex shape, ontworpen en gepatenteerd door Haydenshapes-oprichter Hayden Cox. Het is een rijke mix van moderne, speciaal ontworpen materialen en moderne designinnovatie voor surfen met hoge prestaties. De constructie combineert een stringer-les, high density EPS-kern gelamineerd met biaxiaal glasvezel, epoxyhars en een carbon frame.
Het carbon frame in het laminaat is de sleutel tot het prestatievermogen van het surfboard!
Ontworpen voor snelheid, slaat FutureFlex in feite energie op en geeft deze af wanneer de surfer door een bocht gaat. Tom Carroll, die na Hayden, de eerste was om een proefrit te maken met FutureFlex, beschrijft de technologie als “de Ferrari van surfplanken”. De FutureFlex-constructie creëert een snel, dynamisch en direct surfboard dat is ontworpen voor het surfen op prestaties, gaande van het gemiddelde tot het gevorderde niveau.

De Holy Grail is een shape die het pakken van golven vrij makkelijk maakt, maar niks aan prestatie moet missen in de pocket. Weer heeft Hayden Shapes een fantastisch boardje geshaped dat zowel heel goed golven pakt maar ook in bijna alle omstandigheden super goed surft – een echte knaller dus!
Het is een top opvolger van de Hypto Crypto met zijn sterk peddel vermogen. Door iets minder volume in de neus te hebben en wat scherpere rails is dit boardje de volgende stap in performance surfen voor de meeste surfers. De Holy Grail werkt goed in alle omstandigheden – van slappe vlakke golven tot steile, holle bakken.
Wat zegt Hayden Cox zelf over de Holy Grail?
OUTLINE: The Holy Grail outline has been designed to bring more performance with a better fit in the tighter areas of the wave. This is achieved by narrowing the nose width and extending the length of the rail line ahead of your front foot, giving you a longer or greater connection for carving but added curve to ensure it will fit in the tighter curves of the wave. There is also more surface area to the tail area of the board to increase planing speed in smaller flatter waves. The key feature of the tail plan shape is the side cut (inverted outline) which introduces a aggressive curve to the rail line of the board affecting your surfing when on rail and late in your turns. This contrasts the flatter rocker profile which is designed to give a very fast and continuous speed profile to the board.

ROCKER: The Holy Grail Rocker has been designed to ensure it retains the speed and familiar feel to the Hypto Krypto using the same large radius or flatter curve (for continuous speed). The increase in tail lift has been designed to compensate for the wider block on the tail plan shape. It’s entry rocker is very similar to retain the best paddle power, although there is added curve 12” back from the nose to improve the fit in the tighter curves of the wave.
PERFORMANCE: The Holy Grail is a performance board that is ridden shorter and wider than a traditional performance design, it has plenty of volume throughout to ensure it can paddle easily, along with a lot of flow when surfing off the front foot. Although it is shorter, wider and carries more volume, the design does not sacrifice any performance or response off the back foot for when you line up those great sections or waves.
