Is a swimming certificate obligated when participating in a surf lesson at Hart Beach?

Yes, when participating in a surf or SUP lesson, you need to be in the possession of a swimming certificate.
How do I log in to my account of the surfschool?

The surfschool uses a different system then our webshop.

Where are you located and where do I park?

The Hart Beach Surf School is located on the beach of Scheveningen, close to the jetty at the end of the Boulevard.
Address: Strandweg 3B, 2586 JK Scheveningen.

When the weather is good it can get very busy in Scheveningen. For a current overview of parking possibilities in Scheveningen we would like to point you to the website of the municipality of The Hague, or the page Parking in The Hague.
Until what time can I surf and what time do you close?

Our surfschool is opened until sunset. this means that you can rent gear up to an hour before sunset.
Always ask our staff at the surfschool at what time we'll close that day.
Are you also open in the winter?

Definitely! We are opened 365 days a year. To make things better, the waves are usually better in winter then in the summer. So no excuses to not go in the water.
Are there any waves?

On the webcam the waves usually look smaller then they really are.
So when in doubt, paddle out:D
What is the best time to surf?

This is a good but difficult question, because every day is different.
Usually upcoming tide is a sign for good waves in the Netherlands. In addition, the direction of the waves and the wind have great influence on the surf conditions.

How long is a lesson? What does a lesson look like?

Adult lessons are 2 hours and kids lessons are 1,5 hours.

The lessons usually start with a bit of theoretics, a short warming-up and after that you'll quickly go into the water. In the mean time the instructor could call you to shore to to practice some things and to give you some feedback.
The surf gear is included in the lessons.
What do I need to bring to a lesson?

Can adults and kids participate in a lesson together?

The group lessons for kids and adults start at different times and have a different duration, so it's difficult to combine.
What is a waiver?

This is a page where you have to sign to our term and conditions. We do this preferably digitally.
Are there lessons for the more experienced surfers?
Young rippers
Young rippers is especially for kids that have been surfing more often, that want to surf at a higher level or want to train weekly and have some fun. This course is developed for kids in the age range of 8 till 18 years old.
You need to be able to:
- Stand up independent
- Paddle out through the breakers
- Surf down the line

Surf coaching
Hart Beach Surf Coaching takes place every saturday morning. Our experiences surf coaches can help your using video analysis, theoretic lessons, surf workouts, Smoothstar (skate) training and personal tips and trick. All to understand and improve your surfing skills.
Current skills: Paddle out through the breakers, catch waves independent and surf down the line.

Do I need to make a reservation If i want to surf/sup?

You can not make a reservation for gear rentals. You can make an account in our surfschool en rent gear in your name. We have more then enough surfboards, wetsuits and sups available, so just stop by!

In the unlikely case that all of are gear is rented out, you can wait on our sunny terrace at the beach until there is gear available again.

Can I rent surf gear without having any experience?

Everyone is allowed to rent, but with children we ask the parents to guide their kids. Renting is for own risk and without instructors.
When you are unexperienced we strongly advise you to first book a lesson so you'll go in the water safely. Check the rules in the water:

Do you have showers and dressing rooms? Can I make use of these when I bring my own gear?

We have dressing rooms with showers and lockers. These are for all guest of the Hart Beach Surf School and restaurant. We ask you when you bring out your own gear, to have a drink or a bite to eat in our restaurant. This way your one of our guest! :)
Are there lockers?

Yes! We have lockers in the dressing rooms.
You wear the key to the locker around your neck so you wont loose it.

In case you loose your key we are unfortunately forced to replace the lock. The cost of this will be your responsibility.
Are there spots left in the surfcamps?

When you sign up your kids for a surfcamp you can choose a start date. Is the start date red, it means if fully booked. Blue means that there are still spots left.

How many days are the surfcamps?

The Grommet camps (6-12) are 1,2,3 or 5 days. In the beginning of the booking process you can indicate this.

We also have 1-day camps but these are usually only during national holidays like Easter and Pentecost.

Young Gun Surfcamp (12 - 16 year old) is 5 days.

What does a order process look like?

Hart Beach is the webshop for all your favourite surf brands and surf gear!
Order 24/7, 365 days a week online or drop by in one of our stores.

Ordering online made easy:
• Pick an item and select your preferred size.
• Add the item to the shopping cart.
• Click in the top right corner on the button 'checkout'.
• Open your shopping cart and click 'finish order'.
• Log in or fill in your details.
• Choose a method of payment.
• Check all your details.
• finalize your order.

Right after you completed your order, you'll receive a confirmation email with all the details of your order. In this email you'll also find information on how to follow your order. If you have any questions, don't hesitate and contact us.
Can I cancel my order?

Not sure about your order? These things happen. You can cancel your order until 15:00 that same day. Please get in contact with our customer support via: +31 70 354 55 83
How can I pay?

You can pay in our online shop with Ideal, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro or American Express.

iDeal is a payment provider via internet banking. When you use online banking via Rabobank, ABN Amro, Fortis, ING or SNS Bank, this is the easiest option available. You pay for your order in your own trusted banking through internet banking with iDeal.
What are your shipping costs?

Hart Beach works together with DHL. Regular orders and surfboards are transported by DHL. Together we strive to deliver your order as fast as possible. Usually this takes about 2 to 3 working days. DHL doesn't deliver standard on Saturdays.
Shipping within the Netherlands is free of charge with orders above 60,00 euro. Shipping of surfboards within the Netherlands costs 35,00 euro. Orders can be delivered at your home address or at your work address. You can also opt to pick up your order at our store.
Prices
Regular sending will be processed by DHL. DHL delivers on Monday till Friday between 08:00 and 18:00 and do this in one delivery attempts.

Can I exchange or return?

Exchange or returning of orders is possible through our return address or in one of our shops. You can return your online purchase within 14 days. For exchanging or returning your online purchase the following term apply:

• Within 14 days from 1 day after your received the order.
• Preferably with a fully filled in return form. Download the Hart Beach return form here.
• The item is complete, unused, not worn or damaged (fitting is allowed), if reasonably possible.
• The original tickets and labels are stille attached to the item,if reasonably possible.

• Always bring the receipt of the item when you exchange or return in the shop.
• For online purchased applies: not happy, money back!

Exchange and return policy shop

You can choose to return your item at the Hart Beach Surfshop in Scheveningen. With returning in the shop, you need to bring along the the order confirmation email and a valid ID. Only the person who purchased to order and who's name is on the invoice is allowed to return the item. In the shop we will take in the order confirmation and we will add the sort of ID and ID number to the invoice. You'll receive back the money and and will have to sign for this. Without a valid ID we can not accept returned items.

When you drop off your return package at the post office, you will receive a proof of shipment. Save this proof, we might ask you for it.

This is your proof that you have send something back to us.

Return costs
Return costs are for the customer. When we made a mistake or did we send you the wrong item, of course you will receive the return costs back from us. Did you receive a damaged item? We will also cover the return costs.

Do you serve Vegan dishes?
We serve vegan options during breakfast, lunch & dinner. Also our famous smoothies and Açai bowls are vegan.
What are your opening hours?

We are open 365 days per year. Mon - Thu: 08:00 - 23:00 & Fri - Sun: 08:00 - 00:00.
Breakfast: 09:00 - 11:30 | Lunch: 11:30 - 16:00 | Dinner: 17:00 - 22:00
Is there a children's play area?

We love kids at hart Beach. There is a playground in the sand right in front of our beach pavilion and we have coloring pages and pencils available.
Do you have a children's menu?

Yes, we offer multiple kids options on our lunch and dinner menu. During summer we also serve Pizza. Freshly baked in our own wood oven.
Do you offer Takaway?

Some of our dishes are suitable for takeaway. You can place your order with the waiting staff and let them know you would like to take it away. During busy hours we only offer pizza for take away.
Do you serve cakes and pies?

Yes! We serve different kinds of cakes and pies. You can find them on our menu under desserts.
Do you have free Wifi?

Yes! We have a public free Wifi network available for our guests; Hart Beach Free Wifi. No password needed.
How can I make a reservation?

Is it possible to dine on account?

For companies it's possible to dine on account. Please contact us beforehand so we can discuss this.
Can I park at the entrance?

Yes! you can (paid) park right in front of our beach pavilion at the strandweg in one of the designated parking spaces. More information on (paid) parking in Scheveningen can be found here.
Can I bring my dog inside?

Yes, dogs are more then welcome inside, but they have to be leashed. There are drinking bowls for dogs available.
Can I come with a group?

Which are your payment options?

You can pay with cash, contactless payment or creditcard.
Do you have a giftcard?

Yes! You can purchase the giftcard in the surfshop located right next to the restaurant or online in our webshop.

Is Hart Beach wheelchair accessible?

Yes, till a certain extend. There is a ramp, big doors, a wheelchair accessible toilet and a level floor. Contact us form more information.
Can I park close the the entrance and is it paid parking?

Yes! Hart Beach is located on the beach of Scheveningen, close the the harbour at the end of the Boulevard.

Do you take allergies into account?

Can I shower and change?

Of course you can make use of our shower and we have dressing rooms and lockers available.
What if the weather doesn't allow activities in sea?
We have loads of alternatives! Please contact us for more information. Of course you are welcome in our surf-restaurant for delicious and sustainable bites & drinks at one of our fire places.
Is it possible to rent the complete pavilion?
unfortunately it is not possible to rent the whole place but it is possible to rent your own closed of area.
Is it possible to rent a DJ or Band?
Yes! In consultation with us, a DJ or live music is possible. Contact us for more information.
What's the maximum amount of guests for an event?

Summer: almost without any limits, given the space that the beach offers us.
Winter: max. 75 people because of limited space inside.
What is the minimum amount of guests for an event?

We organise events for groups larger then 8 people.
Are there any accommodation options close to Hart Beach?

Do you have audio and visual facilities?

Yes. You can rent a microphone, speakers, flip-over, projector or big screen TV on the wall with HDMI cables.
Please inform us during your event application or contact us for more information.
Can I decorate the space myself?

In the interest of the environment we prefer non-plastic decoration. We also ask you kindly not to use confetti or crepe paper decoration. These will leave almost ineffaceable traces on our place.
Don't go overboard on the decorations. We always make sure our spaces look inviting and cosy!
Can I order cakes with you?
Yes! We work together with a pastry chef who can deliver us the best cakes and pastries.
Can I arrange things that are not mentioned in your product range?
Yes, in consultation with us. Of course we already have a very extensive product range to choose from.
