The story

Have you ever changed in your poncho and found yourself wondering where the concept originated from? Well we’ve got the story of a family who live by the notion that life - living - happens outside. So get comfortable, read along and most importantly; be inspired.

Their story began in 2007, in the seaside town of St Ives, Cornwall, England. The first-ever changing robe was created by surfers Martyn and Tamsin Tarplee out of their love for the ocean and the lifestyle that comes with it.

Like many surfers can now relate to, they wanted to make the experience of being outdoors and surfing as convenient and comfortable as possible. And so the revolutionary Robie was born, a combination of a robe and a towel that makes the getting in and out of the water, the good times they were always meant to be. We said goodbye and good riddance to the days when an ordinary towel was all we had to protect our dignity from the world, and life was never the same again.

But they didn’t just stop at being the creators of changing robes that simplified the lives of all surfers today. Rather they constantly strive to do better. While being imitated by brands across the world for their innovative idea, they endeavor to stay one step ahead of their imitators by expanding their range and perfecting their designs.
