Matt Biolos’ RNF ‘96 fish designs were taken to the North Shore by teenaged Chris Ward and Cory Lopez where they made their indelible mark on the surfing universe and were later featured in the seminal ‘97 surf fi lm 5’5”x 19 ¼. The RNFs of 1996 radically challenged 20 years of contest design stagnation and became the building blocks for a performance hybrid revolution.
